가톨릭 교회 교리서 458 ‘말씀’은 이처럼 우리가 하느님의 사랑을 깨닫게 하시려고 사람이 되셨다. “하느님의 사랑은 우리에게 이렇게 나타났습니다. 곧 하느님께서 당신의 외아드님을 세상에 보내시어 우리가 그분을 통하여 살게 해 주셨습니다”(1요한 4,9). “하느님께서는 세상을 너무나 사랑하신 나머지 외아들을 내주시어, 그를 믿는 사람은 누구나 멸망하지 않고 영원한 생명을 얻게 하셨다”(요한 3,16).

Catechism of the Catholic Church 458 The Word became flesh so that thus we might know God's love: "In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him."(1 Jn 4:9) "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."(Jn 3:16)

제1독서 : 이사야서 62,11-12 11 보라, 주님께서 땅끝까지 선포하셨다. 딸 시온에게 말하여라. “보라, 너의 구원이 다가온다. 보라, 그분의 상급이 그분과 함께 오고 그분의 보상이 그분 앞에 서서 온다.” 12 사람들이 그들을 ‘거룩한 백성’, ‘주님의 구원을 받은 이들’이라 부르리라. 그리고 너는 ‘그리워 찾는 도성’, ‘버림받지 않은 도성’이라 불리리라.

제2독서 : 사도 바오로의 티토서 3,4-7 사랑하는 그대여, 4 우리 구원자이신 하느님의 호의와 인간애가 드러난 그때, 5 하느님께서 우리를 구원해 주셨습니다. 우리가 한 의로운 일 때문이 아니라 당신 자비에 따라, 성령을 통하여 거듭나고 새로워지도록 물로 씻어 구원하신 것입니다. 6 이 성령을 하느님께서는 우리 구원자이신 예수 그리스도를 통하여 우리에게 풍성히 부어 주셨습니다. 7 그리하여 우리는 그분의 은총으로 의롭게 되어, 영원한 생명의 희망에 따라 상속자가 되었습니다.

Second Reading : Ti 3:4-7 Beloved: When the kindness and generous love of God our savior appeared, not because of any righteous deeds we had done but because of his mercy, He saved us through the bath of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he richly poured out on us through Jesus Christ our savior, so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life.

복음 : 루카 2,15-20 15 천사들이 하늘로 떠나가자 목자들은 서로 말하였다. “베들레헴으로 가서 주님께서 우리에게 알려 주신 그 일, 그곳에서 일어난 일을 봅시다.” 16 그리고 서둘러 가서, 마리아와 요셉과 구유에 누운 아기를 찾아냈다. 17 목자들은 아기를 보고 나서, 그 아기에 관하여 들은 말을 알려 주었다. 18 그것을 들은 이들은 모두 목자들이 자기들에게 전한 말에 놀라워하였다. 19 그러나 마리아는 이 모든 일을 마음속에 간직하고 곰곰이 되새겼다. 20 목자들은 천사가 자기들에게 말한 대로 듣고 본 모든 것에 대하여 하느님을 찬양하고 찬미하며 돌아갔다.

Gospel : Lk 2:15-20 When the angels went away from them to heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go, then, to Bethlehem to see this thing that has taken place, which the Lord has made known to us.” So they went in haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger. When they saw this, they made known the message that had been told them about this child. All who heard it were amazed by what had been told them by the shepherds. And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as it had been told to them.

Prayer over the Offerings May our offerings be worthy, we pray, O Lord, of the mysteries of the Nativity this day, that, just as Christ was born a man and also shone forth as God, so these earthly gifts may confer on us what is divine. Through Christ our Lord.
