Divina œconomia figura est mundi spiritalis
Diúrna, Dómine, sciéntiæ tuæ luce expélle noctúrnas mentis nostræ ténebras, ut mens nostra illumináta minístret tibi in renovatióne puritátis nostræ. Exórdium cursus solis inítium óperis est mortálibus; adórna, Dómine, in méntibus nostris mansiónem huius diéi qui nescit finem. Largíre nobis ut in nostra persóna videámus vitam resurrectiónis, et nihil remóveat mentes nostras a tuis oblectaméntis. Huius diéi, qui non íncipit a motu et cursu solis, signum ímprime, Dómine, in nostra persóna per assíduum nostrum in te stúdium.
In sacraméntis tuis cotídie te amplexámur et in córpore nostro recípimus; dignos nos redde experíri in nostra persóna resurrectiónem, quam sperámus. Thesáurum tuum in córpore nostro abscóndimus cum grátia baptísmi; idem ille thesáurus adaugétur in mensa sacramentórum tuórum; da nobis gaudére in grátia tua. Memoriále tuum, Dómine, in persóna nostra habémus e mensa tua spiritáli; ópere illud possideámus in renovatióne futúra.
Quantæ simus pulchritúdinis intellegámus per illam pulchritúdinem spiritálem, quam in ipsa mortalitáte éxcitat volúntas tua immortális.
Crucifíxio tua, o Salvátor noster, términus fuit vitæ corpóreæ; da nobis crucifígere mentem nostram in figúra vitæ spiritális. Resurréctio tua, o Iesu, magnitúdinem præstet hómini nostro spiritáli; vísio sacramentórum tuórum sit nobis spéculum ad cognitiónem eius.
Tua divína œconomía, o Salvátor noster, figúra est mundi spiritális; da nobis cúrrere in eo sicut homo spiritális.
Ne prives, Dómine, mentem nostram manifestatióne tua spiritáli, et ne rétrahas a membris nostris calórem suavitátis tuæ. Mortálitas in córpore nostro latens effúndit in nos corruptiónem; aspérsio amóris tui spiritális abstérgat efféctus mortalitátis a corde nostro. Da nobis, Dómine, festináre ad nostram civitátem et, sicut Móyses e vértice montis, e revelatióne possideámus eam.

하느님의 계획은 영적 세계의 모형입니다
주여, 당신 지혜의 빛으로써 우리 마음의 어둠을 몰아내시어, 이렇게 조명된 가운데 우리가 새로워져 그 순수성 안에서 당신을 섬기게 하소서. 태양이 솟아오름은 우리 인간에게 일과의 시작을 알려 줍니다. 주여, 우리 마음에다 끝 모르는 날이 빛을 비추는 공간을 마련해 주소서. 우리 안에서 부활의 생명을 볼 수 있게 해주시고 아무것도 우리가 당신께 두는 즐거움을 우리 마음에서 앗아가지 못하게 하소서. 주여, 우리가 끊임없이 당신을 탐구함으로써 우리 안에 태양의 운행에 의존하지 않는 그런 날의 표시를 새겨 주소서.
우리는 매일 성사에서 당신을 반겨 맞으며 당신을 우리 안에 모시오니, 우리가 희망하고 있는 부활을 내적으로 체험하기에 합당한 자로 우리를 삼아 주소서. 우리는 세례의 은총을 통하여 우리 마음 안에 당신 생명의 보화를 지니고 있고 당신 성사의 식탁에서 이 보화가 늘어나고 있사오니, 우리가 당신 은총 안에서 즐기게 하여 주소서. 주여, 우리는 당신의 영적인 식탁이 베풀어 주는 주님의 기념제를 우리 안에 지니고 있사오니, 후세 생활에서 그것을 실제로 소유하게 하소서.
주여, 우리 사멸할 본성 안에서 당신 불멸의 의지가 일으키는 영적인 아름다움을 통하여 우리가 지닌 아름다움이 얼마나 위대한지를 깨닫게 하소서. 우리 구세주시여, 당신께서 십자가에 못박히심은 당신 육신 생명의 끝이었사오니 우리들도 영신적으로 우리 마음을 십자가에 못박도록 도와 주소서. 예수여, 당신의 부활이 그 위대함으로 우리 영신을 채워, 당신의 성사들이 우리에게 그 부활을 반영해 주고 알게 해주는 거울이 되게 하소서.
우리 구세주시여, 당신이 지니신 계획은 영적 세계의 모형이오니 우리가 영적인 사람으로 그 계획 안에서 걸어가게 하소서. 주여, 우리 마음에서 당신의 영신적 현존을 앗아가지 마시고, 우리 감각에서 당신 현존이 주는 따스함과 부드러움을 거두지 마소서. 우리 육신 안에 숨겨 있는 사멸성은 우리 안에 부패를 생기게 하는 근원이오니, 당신의 영적 사랑을 부어 주시고 그 사멸성의 효력을 우리 마음에서 지워 주소서. 주여, 우리 본향에 속히 다다르게 해주시고 산 정상에서 바라보는 모세처럼 계시를 통하여 그 본향을 소유하게 해주소서.
From a sermon of St Ephraem
The divine ordering of the world is an image of the spiritual world
O Lord, drive away the darkness from our minds with the light of your wisdom, so that enlightened in this way we may serve you with renewed purity. The beginning of the sun’s passage through the sky marks the beginning of the working day for us mortals: we ask you, Lord, to prepare in our minds a place where the day that knows no end may give its light. Grant that we may have within us this light, the life of the resurrection, and that nothing may take away our delight in you. Mark us with the sign of that day that does not begin with the movement and the course of the sun, by keeping our minds fixed on you.
In your sacraments we welcome you every day and receive you in our bodies. Make us worthy to experience within us the resurrection for which we hope. By the grace of baptism we conceal within our bodies the treasure of your divine life. This treasure increases as we eat at the table of your sacraments. Let us rejoice in your grace. We have within us, Lord, a memorial of you, which we receive at your spiritual table; may we possess the full reality in the life to come.
Let us appreciate the great beauty that is ours through the spiritual beauty that your immortal will arouses in our mortal nature.
Your crucifixion, Lord, was the end of your bodily life: help us to crucify our will to give birth to the spiritual life. May your resurrection, Jesus, fill our spirits with greatness: may we see in your sacraments a mirror in which we may be able to recognise the resurrection.
Your divine ordering of the world, O Saviour, is the image of the spiritual world: let us live in it as truly spiritual men. Do not take away from our minds, Lord, the signs of your spiritual presence and do not withdraw from our bodies the warmth and delight of your presence. The mortal nature of our bodies is a source of corruption within us: let the outpouring of the spirit of your love wipe away the effect of mortality from our hearts. Grant, Lord, that we may hasten to our true home, and, like Moses on the mountain-top, let us have a glimpse of it.
