가톨릭 교회 교리서 522 하느님의 아들이 세상에 오시는 이 큰 사건을 위하여 하느님께서는 오랜 세기 동안 이를 준비하셨다. 하느님께서는 “첫째 계약”의(히브 9,15 참조) 예식과 희생 제사, 표상과 상징들을 모두 그리스도를 향해 집중시키셨으며, 계속 출현하는 이스라엘 예언자들의 입을 통해서 그분을 예고하신다. 그 밖에도 이교인들의 마음속에 그분께서 오시리라는 막연한 기대를 불러일으키신다.

Catechism of the Catholic Church 522 The coming of God's Son to earth is an event of such immensity that God willed to prepare for it over centuries. He makes everything converge on Christ: all the rituals and sacrifices, figures and symbols of the "First Covenant".(Heb 9:15) He announces him through the mouths of the prophets who succeeded one another in Israel. Moreover, he awakens in the hearts of the pagans a dim expectation of this coming.

Collect Grant your faithful, we pray, almighty God, the resolve to run forth to meet your Christ with righteous deeds at his coming, so that, gathered at his right hand, they may be worthy to possess the heavenly Kingdom. Why do you let us wander, O LORD, from your ways, and harden our hearts so that we fear you not? Return for the sake of your servants, the tribes of your heritage. Oh, that you would rend the heavens and come down, with the mountains quaking before you, while you wrought awesome deeds we could not hope for, such as they had not heard of from of old. No ear has ever heard, no eye ever seen, any God but you doing such deeds for those who wait for him. Would that you might meet us doing right, that we were mindful of you in our ways! Second Reading : 1 COR 1:3-9 Brothers and sisters: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I give thanks to my God always on your account for the grace of God bestowed on you in Christ Jesus, that in him you were enriched in every way, with all discourse and all knowledge, as the testimony to Christ was confirmed among you, so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift as you wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ. He will keep you firm to the end, irreproachable on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, and by him you were called to fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

복음 : 마르코 13,33-37 그때에 예수님께서 제자들에게 말씀하셨다. 33 “너희는 조심하고 깨어 지켜라. 그때가 언제 올지 너희가 모르기 때문이다. 34 그것은 먼 길을 떠나는 사람의 경우와 같다. 그는 집을 떠나면서 종들에게 권한을 주어 각자에게 할 일을 맡기고, 문지기에게는 깨어 있으라고 분부한다. 35 그러니 깨어 있어라. 집주인이 언제 돌아올지, 저녁일지, 한밤중일지, 닭이 울 때일지, 새벽일지 너희가 모르기 때문이다. 36 주인이 갑자기 돌아와 너희가 잠자는 것을 보는 일이 없게 하여라. 37 내가 너희에게 하는 이 말은 모든 사람에게 하는 말이다. 깨어 있어라.”

Gospel : MK 13:33-37 Jesus said to his disciples: “Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come. It is like a man traveling abroad. He leaves home and places his servants in charge, each with his own work, and orders the gatekeeper to be on the watch. Watch, therefore; you do not know when the lord of the house is coming, whether in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or in the morning. May he not come suddenly and find you sleeping. What I say to you, I say to all: ‘Watch!’”

예물 기도 주님, 저희에게 온갖 선물을 베풀어 주셨으니 그 가운데에서 저희가 모아 바치는 이 제물을 받아들이시고 현세에서 저희 믿음을 북돋아 주시어 후세에서 영원한 구원의 상급을 받게 하소서. 우리 주 그리스도를 통하여 비나이다.

Prayer over the Offerings Accept, we pray, O Lord, these offerings we make, gathered from among your gifts to us, and may what you grant us to celebrate devoutly here below gain for us the prize of eternal redemption. Through Christ our Lord.

대림 감사송 1 : 그리스도의 두 차례 오심 거룩하신 아버지, 전능하시고 영원하신 주 하느님, 우리 주 그리스도를 통하여 언제나 어디서나 아버지께 감사함이 참으로 마땅하고 옳은 일이며 저희 도리요 구원의 길이옵니다. 그리스도께서 비천한 인간으로 처음 오실 때에는 구약에 마련된 임무를 완수하시고 저희에게 영원한 구원의 길을 열어 주셨나이다. 그리고 빛나는 영광 중에 다시 오실 때에는 저희에게 반드시 상급을 주실 것이니 저희는 지금 깨어 그 약속을 기다리고 있나이다. 그러므로 천사와 대천사와 좌품 주품 천사와 하늘의 모든 군대와 함께 저희도 주님의 영광을 찬미하며 끝없이 노래하나이다.

Preface 1 of Advent : The two comings of Christ It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord. For he assumed at his first coming the lowliness of human flesh, and so fulfilled the design you formed long ago, and opened for us the way to eternal salvation, that, when he comes again in glory and majesty and all is at last made manifest, we who watch for that day may inherit the great promise in which now we dare to hope. And so, with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominions, and with all the hosts and Powers of heaven, we sing the hymn of your glory, as without end we acclaim :

Prayer After Communion May these mysteries, O Lord, in which we have participated, profit us, we pray, for even now, as we walk amid passing things, you teach us by them to love the things of heaven and hold fast to what endures. Through Christ our Lord.
